Road trip + city
01City of lanes and culture
The gateway. A city built on hidden laneways, rooftop bars, and a cafe on every corner. We will spend the first two days walking the city center, exploring galleries, arcades, and the Yarra River promenade.
02Australia's most famous drive
One of the great coastal roads in the world. We will take two days to drive it west, hugging cliffs that drop into the Southern Ocean. The Twelve Apostles at sunset is the anchor image of the trip.
03The national capital
A planned city of wide boulevards and national institutions. We will spend a day visiting Parliament House, the war memorial, and the galleries around Lake Burley Griffin.
04Harbour city
The grand finale. A few days exploring the harbour: the Opera House, the Bridge, the coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee, and long dinners in neighbourhoods that feel like their own small towns.
Land in Melbourne, settle in, and take an evening walk through the city center. Dinner in a hidden laneway bar.
A full day exploring the city: Federation Square, the National Gallery of Victoria, and the arcades of the CBD. Evening in Fitzroy.
Pick up the car and head west along the coast. Stop in Torquay and Anglesea. Overnight in Apollo Bay.
Drive the remaining stretch to the Twelve Apostles at sunrise. Walk the boardwalks, then head inland toward Canberra.
A day in the capital: Parliament House, the Australian War Memorial, and the National Gallery. Evening by the lake.
Drive east to Sydney. Afternoon in The Rocks and Circular Quay. First sight of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
A full day exploring Sydney Harbour. Morning coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee, afternoon ferry to Manly, evening in Darlinghurst.
One last morning by the harbour. A final coffee, then the flight home.
